Aerosmith set for comeback – this month!

AEROSMITH are set to come out of retirement and play the Hollywood Bowl on October 30 and November 1.
The Boston legends, who cut short what was to be their final tour in September 2023 when singer Steven Tyler suffered a vocal chord injury, teased the comeback on their social media channels yesterday (Monday).

The short video posted by the band shows frontman Steven Tyler on a ladder outside the Los Angeles venue, placing letters on the marquee with assistance from longtime rock photographer Ross Halfin.

The sign is completed to read “Aerosmith & Friends” alongside the two dates. In the clip, Tyler can be heard requesting an ampersand and stating, “It’s ‘Aerosmith and Friends, Ross… Aerosmith and Friends!” Halfin later asks, “Don’t you miss performing?” to which Tyler replies, “Of all the things I ever missed, I missed my mind the most.”

The post was accompanied by a message reading “&…. all will be revealed tomorrow. 7 am pt.” Full details of the shows are therefore expected to be confirmed tonight (Tuesday) Australian time.

Aerosmith’s Peace Out farewell tour was halted after only a handful of dates in September 2023 following Tyler’s injury, which caused bleeding and required extended recovery.

The remaining dates were initially postponed into 2024 before the band announced in August of that year that a full recovery was not possible.

In their retirement statement at the time, the group said: “He has spent months tirelessly working on getting his voice to where it was before his injury. We’ve seen him struggling despite having the best medical team by his side. Sadly, it is clear, that a full recovery from his vocal injury is not possible. We have made a heartbreaking and difficult, but necessary, decision — as a band of brothers — to retire from the touring stage.”

Tyler has since made a number of limited live appearances, including benefit performances and a tribute slot at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards.

Guitarist Joe Perry has also continued performing with other projects.

Last year Perry indicated the possibility of further Aerosmith activity, telling SiriusXM’s Trunk Nation: “We’re talking about it. I mean, except for anything on the calendar, we’re all alive and well, so we’ll just have to see. I know there’s gotta be at least another Aerosmith gig, and I’m not looking forward to putting the set list together for that one.”

The Hollywood Bowl appearances, if confirmed as full band shows under the “Aerosmith & Friends” banner, would mark the group’s first official concerts since their final Peace Out date at UBS Arena in Elmont, New York, on September 9 2023.
