THE fifth album from Slash featuring Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators – henceforth SMKC – is due in February next year and the first single has just been released.
“Flying Blind”, the album’s title track, is out now across all digital platforms, the latest track from the collaborative project that has lasted fifteen years.
Of the song, Slash says, “Created in the studio while we were standing there in pre-production, a riff came to me and started developing. I had nothing of that song prior to those guys coming in, and then we started up a night of rehearsal and played that riff. It came together really quickly.”
FOr his part, Kennedy explained that he “enjoyed putting a melody to this song. The lyric is about how sometimes people try to take shortcuts and try to find the easy way to achieve happiness or enlightenment.”
Also featuring bassist Todd Kerns, drummer Brent Fitz and Frank Sidoris on guitar, SMKC is celebrating the release of Flying Blind by teaming up with Fandiem in a charitable sweepstakes to benefit the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) and the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI). By making a donation at Fandiem, fans can enter to win a chance to meet and hang out with Slash in Wales next year. Visit fandiem.com for further details.
