SUPERJESUS singer Sarah McLeod has hit out at anti-social behaviour from “drunk blokes” at the band’s shows.
The social media post follows a fight in the crowd at The Entrance Leagues Club at Bateau Bay on the NSW Central Coast last Friday but also in response to a number of direct messages McLeod had received from fans about other incidents.
“I am tired of hearing feedback about drunk blokes in the audience acting disrespectfully,” she wrote in a captioned video.
“It wasn’t just the punch-up in Bateau Bay. I get lots of messages from fans about their experience.”
She shared a message from “Ainslie Roses” about being shouted at by a male punter after she “gently asked him to move over”.
McLeod continued: “Hey friends and music lovers, rock’n’roll is fun and it gets the adrenaline pumping – I get it.
“It’s addictive and it can make you crazy. Wild and crazy is cool when we respectfully do it together with everyone’s safety in mind.
“We want fans to be able to come to gigs alone, meet people, dance and experience joy in a safe environment.
“I wake up to a lot of DMs from audience members about how they’re night rolled from their perspective. I read as many as I can because I’m interested. Otherwise how the fuck am I supposed to know what goes on out there?
“I’m over just apologising for other people. Just think of it as a family …. or friends you haven’t met yet. We’re all there for the same reasons.
“Music is healing, gigs are therapy. Think twice before you make moves that might stay with someone longer than it stays with you.
“It’s easy and it’s fun….I know you’ve got it in you. Thank you to ainslieroses for giving me permission to share this message for the greater good. Big love to you all.”
