SILVERBACK Touring’s deepening strife has claimed another victim with the Ace Frehley Band cancelling its upcoming Australian trek.
Management of the act – made up of members of the late KISS guitarist’s touring band – made it clear the decision was linked to adverse publicity the promoters had received in recent weeks, with TV’s A Current Affair running an investigative piece on proprietor Danny Bazzi.
“This decision comes as the ongoing issue surrounding outstanding unpaid funds from previous Australian tours promoted by Silverback Touring and Tribute Touring continues to receive increasing attention from artists, agents, promoters and fans both nationally and internationally,” the band’s manager, Bill Di Paolo, said in a statement.
Other Silverback tours of Oz to cancel this year are Love/Hate, Eclipse and Trixter/Lorraine Lewis/Stevie Rachelle.
“This decision has not been made lightly, Di Paolo said. “Our foremost concern has always been the best interests of our fans, ticket holders, our touring crew, and everyone involved in these shows.
“The band believes that stepping away from the Australian tour is the most responsible course of action at this time, allowing the broader industry matters involving Silverback Touring and Tribute Touring to reach an appropriate resolution.”
The Ace Frehley band is made up of Philip Shouse, Ryan Spencer Cook, Jeremy Asbrock and Christopher Williams and was due to open its tour on September 11th in Perth and close at Max Watts in Melbourne on September 19.
