IF you’re going to fall over on stage, it might as well be during a song called “Hole In The Earth”
So Deftones’ Chino Moreno at least got his timing right during a show at Auckland’s Spark Arena this week, taking a tumble that – thanks to the wonders of YouTube – has now now been seen by hundreds of thousands around the world.
Like the consulate professional he is, 52-year-old Moreno got straight to his feet and went on with the show.
Having watched the “incident”, which lasts all of three seconds, HM can only assume Deftones are a very click-attracting band. That’s the only possible explanation for the fall achieving such widespread coverage.
Sadly in this game, some bands could spontaneously combust and it wouldn’t be worth 15 minutes of some intern’s measly wage to write about it, while other bands … well, their singer could fall over on stage in New Zealand and get straight back up and everyone would cover it.
We guess the song helped. As you were. Watch the video from about the 58th minute.
