I THREW a bunch of questions at Paige and Alex from the Adelaide band that are double the trouble but but twice as nice – Witch Spit.

Hot Metal: Give us a quick rundown about Witch Spit.

Paig Geard: “It’s feral, loud and we have a lot to say and say it proud. We’ll probably be half pissed when you see us live. We like to write some music with meaning but also some silly shit about our adventures together to keep it fun. We’re proud of the huge sound we’ve created over the last year with just two people.”

HM: You recently played the killer Adelaide festival Froth And Fury. How was that? Did you get to meet any artists you’re a fan of? Any tasty back stage stories?

PG: “It was scary as shit being out the front by myself cause the stage was huge and was the first time I’d used that guitar in a live setting. I was nervous my average wiring skills were gonna fail half way through the set. But after I got over the initial nerves it was awesome belting out some new tracks and having our friends and family cheering us on. We were stoked to be a part of it. We spent most of the day running around in a drunken frenzy after that but COFFINs set absolutely ruled the day for me.”

Alex Hollow: “I don’t remember a lot of the day. My legs were too hot and I had to buy some shorts. I had lots of fun and saw some cool bands. Pizza Death were a highlight of the day. We met a lot of awesome people and the set was fun except I couldn’t see my drums because of the smoke machine going nuts!”

HM: If Witch Spit were an alcoholic drink what would be in it?

PG: “Probably a lot of Irish whiskey … or something equally hangover-inducing.”

AH: “A bit of accidental cigarette ash”

HM: Who was your first TV/Movie crush?

PG: “My memory ain’t so flash and I can’t pick one but I would probably say Faith from Buffy (Eliza Dushku), or Michelle Pfeiffer as Catwoman are standing out. Basically any and all bad girls in leather.”

AH: “Drew Barrymore in Charlie’s Angels.

HM: Mullet or Mohawk?

PG: “Mullets all day. Pre shaved head, that was my look and we’re slowly growing it back.”

AH: “Mohawk!”

HM: What’s one piece of merchandise you would love to have out?

PG: “Our own booze. I’d love to do a signature pedal one day too!”

AH: “Bongs would be cool.”

HM: Put your dream band together. Anyone from any era dead or alive, who would be in it?

AH: “Billy Joel, Bonnie Tyler, John Entwhistle, Hank von Hell, Tre Cool. My band won’t sound good.”

PG: “Oh my God, can you imagine Hank Von Hell with Billy Joel and Bonnie Tyler, I can’t stop laughing and would pay to see that. Mine would be Brody Dalle, Donita Sparks, Suzi Quattro and Alex on drums so I can fan girl from side of stage.”

HM: What have you got planned?

PG: “World domination. We’re getting married next year which is gonna be one hell of a party. We just finished recording our new album and planning a tour to follow its release. Also planning on finally heading overseas to play music so that’s super exciting. We’ve taken the past year pretty chill on the gig front, so we could focus on the album, so we will hit the ground running in 2025 and have our most hectic year yet!

AH: “I want to own some cats and some goats!”
