THERE may be only two weeks left of 2024, but the tour updates keep rolling in even in the “slowest” time of the year.

WHILE the might Manowar may never set foot on Australian soil, original guitarist and founding member Ross the Boss will be doing his best to make it up to fans of his old band when he lands here in May to perform the classic 1984 album Sign of the Hammer. With a band featuring Metal Church vocalist Marc Lopes, Gamma Ray bassist Dirk Schläter and one-time Manowar drummer Rhino, this tour will be one for the true metal warriors.

THE greatest animated metal band of all time will be awakening Australia on a four date tour in April. Featuring creator Brendon Small and legendary drummer Gene Hoglan, Dethklok will provide a multi-media extravaganza of metal, animation and comedy.

Brian Giffin is a metalhead, author, writer and broadcaster from the Blue Mountains in Australia. His life was changed forever after seeing a TV ad for 'The Number of the Beast' in 1982. During the 90s he wrote columns and reviews for Sydney publications On the Street, Rebel Razor, Loudmouth and Utopia Records' magazine. He was the creator and editor of the zine LOUD! which ran from 1996 until 2008, and of Loud Online that lasted from 2010 until 2023 when it unexpectedly spontaneously combusted into virtual ashes. His weekly community radio show The Annex has been going since 2003 on rbm.org.au. He enjoys heavy rock and most kinds of metal (except maybe symphonic power metal), whisk(e)y and beer.
