JUDAS Priest is to replace Ozzy Osbourne at California’s gigantic Power Trip festival, which will also see the return to the stage of AC/DC.

Osbourne, 74, had retired from performing live due to health issues but reversed his decision to be part of the festivities at Indio Polo Grounds from October 6 to 8.

Other bands on the bill are Metallica, Tool, Guns N’Roses and Iron Maiden.

However two days ago Osbourne said on Instagram and Facebook: “My original plan was to return to the stage in the summer of 2024, and when the offer to do this show came in, I optimistically moved forward.

“Unfortunately, my body is telling me that I’m just not ready yet and I am much too proud to have the first show that I do in nearly five years be half-assed.”

“The band that will be replacing me on Power Trip will be announced shortly. They are personal friends of mine and I can promise that you will not be disappointed.”

Billboard reported that act would be fellow Brummies Judas Priest.

Tickets for Power Trip start at US$599 for the three days with no single-day tickets yet made available.
