FORMER Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist Josh Klinghoffer has accepted a plea deal in his vehicular manslaughter case.

In pleading no contest to the charge, the LA musician was sentenced to 60 days community service and a year of probation, along with financial restitution.

While driving in March last year, Klinghoffer struck and killed 47-year old Israel Sanchez as he was using a marked pedestrian crossing. Sanchez’ family have since filed a civil suit against Klinghoffer, claiming the guitarist was distracted by this phone at the time.

Klinghoffer, who also tours as live member with Pearl Jam, stood in on guitar with The Smashing Pumpkins on their Australian tour in 2023.
