AEROSMITH are conducting their Peace Out farewell tour in a manner befitting men of their vintage.
There is no rushing from city to city, no setting up identical stage sets hundreds of miles apart and stepping straight off lear jets and into limos to backstage areas.
The first show of the tour was on September 2 in Philadelphia and there were then four clear days off before the second in Pittsburgh tomorrow night, September 6.
The opening concert at Wells Fargo Arena won almost universal praise.
USA Today said: “This feels like a grand goodbye for Aerosmith – as least as far as touring, as the caveat goes – and the band is marinating in every serrated guitar riff, every scarf adorning a mic stand, every piercing laser and light.”
People said singer Steve Tyler’s “endurance never faltered, performing upwards of 16 songs straight through, including “Sweet Emotion,” “Livin’ on the Edge,” “Cryin’” and “I Don’t Wanna Miss a Thing,” before ending with “Toys in the Attic,” during which giant balloons came down from the ceiling.”
The Philadelphia Inquirer called it an “unsentimental farewell”.
Drummer Joey Kramer is the only original member missing from the tour, which will take in 50 dates until the end of January and which at this stage does not include Australia.
