ROCK’n’roll has been around so long that nothing is truly original in 2023.

And Metallica, who recently released their 11th studio album, are confronted with as many allegation of ripping off themselves as other bands from this 70-year-old artform.

That said, the introduction to the title track from that album 72 Seasons DOES sound uncannily like the 1979 release by Canadian rock band April Wine, “I Like To Rock”

“That is a direct rip-off of a seventies band from Canada,” said podcaster Michael Butler when reviewing the album 72 Seasons

“The name of the band that they’re ripping off is called April Wine. The song is called ‘I Like To Rock’.

“Same key even!

“That is a direct rip-off. I’m sorry, a direct rip-off! I love that song, ‘I like to rock’.

“If you’re going to rip someone off, rip off someone good like April Wine.”
