IT is the age of what the kids called “collabs” and this is a big one – Tom Morello and Serj Tankian with Morello’s son.
You’ll remember Roman Morello from his involvement in Back To The Beginning. Now the 15-year-old is teaming up with dad and the System Of a Down man for a new single called “Ajourn It”.
The song – which will be released on May 29 – is part of a long-term project: a Tom Morello solo album.
Morello said on his social media platforms: “The song was inspired by ‘The persecution of immigrants across the land and the counterforce of a heroic resistance to the rising tide of fascism. ADJOURN IT is a ‘Freedom Song’ of crushing riffs for justice and equality.”
Tankian and Morello senior have worked together for some years on activism, founding the non-profit Axis Of Justice.
The avowed aims of that organisation are “to bring together musicians, fans of music and grassroots political organizations to fight for social justice together … (and) … aim to build a bridge between fans of music around the world and local political organisations to effectively organize around issues of peace, human rights and economic justice.”
