THE Amity Affliction will celebrate their new album House Of Cards with a special show in the Sydney Opera House forecourt on December 12.
The show will be part of the On The Steps series and mark the Gympie outfit’s only Australian headlining concert of this year. House Of Cards was released a week ago.
Many of the songs on the album are about singer Joel Birch’s late mother – and not in the normal way an artist might say that. Instead, Birch has said he siblings had a difficult relationship with her.
The songs don’t deal so much with loss as topics such as the likelihood (or otherwise) of there being an afterlife, religious hypocrisy and the things people leave behind when they die.
It’s the band’s ninth studio album.
Having been caught up in the collapse of the Park Waves festival. The Amity Affliction quickly compensated by booking a run of gigs in regional centres.
