NINETY-FIVE year old cultural icon William Shatner has recruited former Slayer drummer Dave Lombardo for his upcoming metal album.
Judas Priest vocalist Rob Halford is already on board, as is what is described in a Cleopatra Records media release as a “production team” of Adam Hamilton, Brian Perera, Derek Hughes, Marcus Nand and Jürgen Engler.
Added alongside Lombardo this week was bassist John Moyer of Disturbed.
Lombardo was quoted as saying: “It was a true privilege to contribute drums to William Shatner’s ambitious heavy metal project. At any age, real artists keep pushing boundaries — and this one pushes them into orbit.”
Cleopatra Records insists: “For Shatner, this is not a novelty move — it is a full-scale artistic statement. At 95, he is leaning into the power, danger and drama of heavy music with the same sense of commitment and conviction that has defined his career across film, television, spoken word and music.”
No name for the project of release date has been announced but we do know the album will feature Shatner dueting with Halford on “Another Thing Coming” as well as covers of Iron Maiden and Black Sabbath songs.
