JAPANESE metal veterans X Japan have made a formal announcement about the death of their bass player Hiroshi “Heath” Morie.
Heath lost his battle with colorectal cancer on October 29 at the age of 55. The band were to release an official obituary at the end of November in line with his family’s wishes but “unwarranted media coverage” of their band-mate’s death has caused them to bring the news forward. Individual tributes from X Japan members will be posted at Heath’s official website, https://www.heathproject.com/.
Morie held two stints with X Japan, the first from 1992 to 1997 and the second from 2007 until his death, holding down the bass role on the albums Art of Life and Dahlia, along with the numerous live and soundtrack albums done since.
