THERE isn’t a band in the world of rock that is more successful in its secretiveness than Aussie icons AC/DC.

So when the US dates for the Power Up! tour were finally released a couple of days ago, it was a huge sigh of relief for fans and media who had been pouncing on every shred of information, from radio station contests to prematurely hoisted posters outside venues.

But it was particularly interesting that a set of dates for the only-slightly-less secretive Guns N’Roses surfaced around the same time. Why? Because at one stage AC/DC’s latest bassist Chris Chaney was said to be only keeping the bass seat warm for one Duff McKagan.

And there was even an inference taken from a Sebastian Bach interview that Axl Rose would be involved in the Ackadacka circus again, after filling in for singer Brian Johnson in 2016.

So, lookjng at the dates that have so far been announced: can we discount these scurrilous rumours?

Well, there is an overlap that would make it difficult. Guns N’Roses purportedly start in Riyhad, Saudi Arabia on May 25. AC/DC are in Chicago the night before and have one more North American date on their run, in Cleveland on May 28.

However, the GN’R dates have not been acknowledged by the band yet – Villa Park in Birmingham reportedly started promoting it’s gig on June 23 though. And Chaney could presumably sub straight in to cover any conflicts.

On balance, the likelihood of Rose having any involvement with AC/DC seems extremely remote while McKagan would still be a major surprise.
