GERMANY’S legendary Wacken Open Air, the giant music festival that has become a Mecca for metal fans the world over, has been forced to close the entry gates to further visitors to this year’s event.

Inclement weather has turned the site into even more of a mudbath than usual, resulting in extensive delays to visitors trying to access the festival over the last couple of days. Early this morning Australian time, the organisers announced that they would not be allowing anymore ticketholders into the festival because of safety concerns. Refunds will be available for those who are not yet through the gates. Acts still set to appear at Wacken this year include Helloween, HammerFall, Kreator, Uriah Heep, Vixen, Dark Tranquillity, Pennywise, Amorphis, Immolation, Trivium, Megadeth, Amaranthe, Possessed, Kataklysm, Sleep Token, Dropkick Murphys, Killswitch Engage, Jinjer, Voivod and headliners Iron Maiden.
