SINCE the last update, two massive touring juggernauts were announced for late 2026 within days of each other – stadium tours from Iron Maiden with Megadeth and Guns N’ Roses with Airbourne. Along with the Foo Fighters tour, these will definitely be the big events for the year, but here’s another round of tours to have been announced since last time.

At long last, Sweden’s doom pioneers Candlemass will be making their debut tour of the Australian mainland in September and October. Previously here for a single show at Dark Mofo several years ago, the band will play shows in Perth, Melbourne and Sydney.

They’ve been magnets for controversy throughout their long careers and now they’re teaming up to tour Australia together. Cradle of Filth and DevilDriver will battle it out in July at five shows kicking off in Brisbane.

North Carolina’s mindbending progressive masters Between the Buried and Me bring the tour cycle for eleventh album The Blue Nowhere to Australia in July. Dates for the tour include Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane

Returning for their biggest headlining tour to date, Michigan’s I Prevail will be in Australia for five shows in June. Also included on the package are Swedish metalcore innovators Imminence, back after a sold-out run in 2025, along with Invent Animate for their first visit in three years.

The travelling metal festival Shredfest lands in Australia in September. Featuring two of the world’s more technical extreme bands, Obscura and Fallujah, along with Perth’s Ashen and Anoxia from Sydney, each date will also feature local openers.

Brian Giffin is a metalhead, author, writer and broadcaster from the Blue Mountains in Australia. His life was changed forever after seeing a TV ad for 'The Number of the Beast' in 1982. During the 90s he wrote columns and reviews for Sydney publications On the Street, Rebel Razor, Loudmouth and Utopia Records' magazine. He was the creator and editor of the zine LOUD! which ran from 1996 until 2008, and of Loud Online that lasted from 2010 until 2023 when it unexpectedly spontaneously combusted into virtual ashes. His weekly community radio show The Annex has been going since 2003 on rbm.org.au. He enjoys heavy rock and most kinds of metal (except maybe symphonic power metal), whisk(e)y and beer.
