THE touring scene seems to be as alive as ever as we enter 2025 – here’s the first update for the year.

DETHKLOK‘s Australian tour has proved such a hit that more shows have been added and venues upgraded. With drumming legend Gene Hoglan on board alongside creator Brendon Small, the band will now appear in Perth on April 2 and a second show in Melbourne on April 9. Brisbane’s performance has been moved to the Fortitude Music Hall.

FLORIDA death metal pioneers Massacre will be touring Australia for the first time ever in May, with support from Finnish genre-hoppers Convulse. Tickets are through Moshtix and Oztix depending on the venue – shows are in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Hobart.

PROGRESSIVE death metal innovators Atheist will also be making their first appearance in Australia this year as they tour in June with locals Vexation and Anoxia through Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Canberra.

THRASH fans aren’t being ignored either with both Testament and Onslaught on their way Down Under later this year. Testament are her in June and Onslaught make their debut Aussie tour in November.

Brian Giffin is a metalhead, author, writer and broadcaster from the Blue Mountains in Australia. His life was changed forever after seeing a TV ad for 'The Number of the Beast' in 1982. During the 90s he wrote columns and reviews for Sydney publications On the Street, Rebel Razor, Loudmouth and Utopia Records' magazine. He was the creator and editor of the zine LOUD! which ran from 1996 until 2008, and of Loud Online that lasted from 2010 until 2023 when it unexpectedly spontaneously combusted into virtual ashes. His weekly community radio show The Annex has been going since 2003 on rbm.org.au. He enjoys heavy rock and most kinds of metal (except maybe symphonic power metal), whisk(e)y and beer.
