AZARIA Byrne of Sydney rockers The Art is one of nine people arrested by police for alleged involvement in a massive drug manufacturing and supply ring.

Byrne and his girlfriend Brooke Mitchell were taken into custody after raids across Sydney’s inner western and eastern suburbs uncovered millions of dollars in cash, drugs and drug-making paraphernalia. A hidden room in a Leichhardt recording studio was found to contain over 17kgs of cannabis, 25kgs of ketamine, 2.5kgs of cocaine and 3.5kgs of MDMA.

News reports suggest raids on homes in five Sydney suburbs found more drugs and cash. A Marrickville home is believed to have served as a drug lab.

Byrne, Mitchell and music producer Oliver Dibley, who is alleged to be the operation’s ringleader, could face life imprisonment if convicted. They are due to face court on May 14.
