STEVE Riley, the former drummer of LA Guns and WASP, has died. He was 67.

Riley’s passing was first reported on Friday by Stevie Rachelle’s Metal Sludge site and by YouTuber Jason Green. Although no cause of death was given, Green said Riley had been suffering from several illnesses. He had been walking with the use of cane in recent times.

Riley played on the WASP studio albums The Last Command and Inside The Electric Circus before joining LA Guns and playing in albums between 1988 and 2012.

“He told me wasn’t well, he’d been visiting doctors,” said Green. “He didn’t tell me exactly what was wrong and I didn’t ask.”

Riley – who fell out with LA Guns members Phil Lewis and Tracii Guns – had his own version of the band with fellow original band alumni, bassist Kelly Nickels. They have an album in the can with Australian label Golden Robot and recently released a single, “Dark Horse”.
