STEEL Panther have confirmed long-time tour manager Joe ‘Spyder’ Lester as their permanent bass player, ahead of their upcoming Australian tour.

As is traditional for the parody hair metal band, few personal real-life details were made available in a media release regarding the “eight-fingered and double thumbed freakazoid” who will fill the duties formerly performed by Travis ‘Lexxi Foxx’ Haley.

But Lester first joined the band on stage when Haley took a break from touring in December 2018. He is a former bandmate of singer Michael Starr and guitarist Satchel in Atomic Punks.

Spyder is one of several bass players who have performed the roll since Haley left for good in July last year, the most prominent being Tanner Keegan and Rikki Dazzle.

The band quoted itself as saying: “We wanted it to be you. We wanted it to be you so badly. So, it’s not gonna be easy. It’s gonna be really hard. We’re gonna have to work at this every day, but we want to do that because we want you. We want all of you, forever, you and us, every day. To us, you are perfect. You had us at hello. You complete us. We’re gonna need a bigger boat.”

Steel Panther and Airbourne tour Australia together in October, beginning in Newcastle on the 19th.
