VAN Halen fans should have basked in the glory of two lead singers going head-to-head with solo shows at the weekend – but knowing how famously partisan they are, it no doubt just prompted more arguments.
David Lee Roth played his first full band show in five years at the M3 Festival at Columbia, Maryland on Saturday night and his set was made up entirely of VH classics. Meanwhile Roth – with Australia’s Rai Thistlethwayte on board – is a three shows into his Vegas residency at the Park MGM.
His includes 12 Van Halen songs out of 18, with “Humans Being”, “Amsterdam” and “Love Walks In” recently added. Hagar disputed from the stage setlist.fm’s record of “Love Walks In” having been most recently played in 1993, claiming it was 1988.
Roth’s band features four male back-up singers. Dates for a US tour began appearing yesterday (Monday) with 13 on the books at the time of writing.
