I CAUGHT up with a few of the gents from awesome Perth band Crypt Crawler; have a read and check out the links for some top shelf ear coffee.

The members are Zach James (guitar), Jordan Cappa (guitar),Marco Ieritano (vocals) Lewis Oliver (drums) and Cameron Gillam (bass)

HM: Give us a quick rundown about Crypt Crawler…
MI: “Crypt Crawler is a Western Australian death metal band with influences such as Death, Obituary and Morbid Angel, harking back to the sound of the old school whilst incorporating the undertones of today’s modern death metal.”
HM: What bands have you guys supported? Any highlights?
MI: “With COVID having put a halt on international touring bands, we lost a couple of supports that we had lined up at the time. Our biggest highlight so far has been supporting US death metal legends Skeletal Remains for their Perth show in November which was an awesome experience. We also supported King Parrot recently which was a really sick show too.”
HM: Perth has been putting out great metal bands for ages now: Silent Knight, Voyager, Grave Forsaken, Tempest Rising. What’s in the water – or local pubs – over there?
MI: “You’re right, there are so many great bands from here – also including Depravity, Ashen, The Furor, Woewarden, Suneater, Remission, Fugue Tomb, etcetera. The list goes on!”
HM: If Crypt Crawler were an alcoholic drink what would be in it?
MI: “Something with Ginger or Frangelico. Haha.”
LO: “Triple Jacks and coke. Dark, strong, gonna put some hairs on your chest.”
CG: “Jeager Bombs”.
HM: You guys have one of the best band logos I’ve seen in ages. What’s the story behind that?
MI: “Thanks heaps, stoked you like the logo! I designed it. I don’t really know if there’s too much of a story other than that it went through multiple iterations, with our very first version being quite thin. Then we beefed it up a bit for To the Grave and Blood Sustenance, before settling on the current version for Future Usurper. I think at the time, we really liked how Power Trip’s logo looked, so we wanted something similar with how the top word surrounded the bottom word.”
HM: One piece of merchandise you would love to have out?
MI: “I’d personally love to have either Crypt Crawler socks or even video game controller decals!”
HM: You’re headed over to Adelaide and Melbourne in January. Is it your first time in those cities?
MI: “Yes, it is! First time finally touring which we can’t wait for.
HM: I’ll see you at the Adelaide gig. Can I put a request in for “An Exorcism” to be added to the set list?
MI: “Hell yeah man, we’ll see you there! No worries, we’ll be sure to play that.”
