IN the midst of a legal firestorm, Motley Crue have entered the studio with new guitarist John 5 and long-time producer Bob Rock.

Guitarist Mick Mars is suing the band to release financial information as he fights what he claims to be unfair dismissal from their companies.

But the other members – Vince Neil, Nikki Sixx and Tommy Lee – aren’t letting the grass grow under their feet.

Days after bassist Sixx said they would be recording new music, they began doing just that with John 5 posting pictures of himself in the studio.

“Let’s do this; @MotleyCrue #bobrock,” he wrote as a caption.

Lee said on Instagram: “Hit that mother fucking record button Mr. Rock!!! Go!”

But LA Guns singer Phil Lewis says John 5 as a “not the right fucking fit at all” for the Crue and they should have chosen his axeman Tracii Guns instead.

“They really fucked up when they went with John 5 and not Tracii Guns,” Lewis told YouTube’s Rock Interview Series .

“I’m glad they did, obviously. He’s is not the right fucking fit at all. And Tracii would just be so perfect.

“He’s, like, Hollywood; he’s a brat like them. He’s just like the next generation down, and it would have been such an incredibly good fit. But Tracii’s not trendy.

“It’s gotta be fucking Rob Zombie’s guy or it’s gotta be Lenny Kravitz’s wife or ex-girlfriend. It’s gotta be trendy. It’s gotta be somebody incredibly important. It gives them a sense of importance. And, as I said, I’m glad they fucked up and they didn’t. They should have got Tracii.”
