IT hasn’t quite got the star power of Chickenfoot but iconic Van Halen bassist Michael Anthony is working on a new supergroup.

In 2008 Anthony – now 68 – joined fellow VH alumni Sammy Hagar, guitar virtuoso Joe Satriani and Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith to form Chickenfoot, which went on to release three studio albums.

This time, ‘Mad Anthony’ has tapped up current Bon Jovi guitarist Phil X and Aerosmith touring drummer John Douglas.

“And we do have a singer,” Anthony said. “I don’t wanna mention any names, but a really, really cool singer. And we’re recording just for fun right now, some stuff. That’s all I can say.”

That singer seems to be the widely regarded Jeff Scott Soto, who shared an article about the news above and commented on Instagram: “Hmmm….ummm…no comment =) … read between the lines my friend”.
