GARAGE rockers the Supersuckers have a new album gathering a film of dust as it waits to be mixed – and Metallica is to blame.
Frontman Eddie Spaghetti says the famed cowboy-themed alt-rockers have completed their first record for new label Hard Charger but their choice of mixer, Billy Joe Bowers, is currently working on a huge project with producer Brendan O’Brien and one of the planet’s biggest bands.
“Metallica are apparently in the process of compiling all this live footage for I don’t-know-how-many songs,” Spaghetti tells Hot Metal. “Hundreds of songs.
“And my friend who works with Brendan O’Brien and recorded our record, I guess he’s been editing Lars (Ulrich)’s drum tracks for the last year.
“We get pushed aside because Lars can pay the bills and the Supersuckers still owe!”
Bowers has worked with some of the biggest names in rock, including on three AC/DC albums and with fellow Aussies The Living End and Wolfmother.
“We’ve worked with him before and we’ve decided to work with him again and it’s such a pain in the ass to work with this guy because he’s so f—ing busy!” Spaghetti says.
“I don’t know if we’re going to do that again but it’s a great record and we’re really happy with the recording.”
