WINGER’s current world tour – including the eighties mainstays’ ‘first and last’ Australian shows which kick off this Friday – winds up the band’s 38-year career.
Frontman Kip Winger is opting for a career in classical music. Some of his bandmates have expressed disappointment – but understanding – with his decision but the 63-year-old says he will keep in touch with the world of loud guitars and tight pants in an unusual location – at sea.
“I wouldn’t say that I’ll never be on another cruise,” Winger, who has just returned from the Monsters Of Rock Cruise in the Caribbean, tells Hot Metal.
“Especially with those games I host. For the people who are listening who don’t know about the Monsters Of Rock Cruise, my band plays but I host a couple of shows on there.
“…one being So You Think You Can Shred, where we get amateur guitar players.
“And this year we also did Monster Feud which was similar to Family Feud with out modifications of course.
“At some point I’ll do a final show with the band but that’s not to say I might not do a cruise or something.”
