HOODOO Gurus bassist Rick Grossman has discussed his long-standing friendship with Metallica’s James Hetfield, saying the pair “like the same kind of things”.
Grossman – also a former member of Divinyls – was appearing on the Fire Up! podcast when host Stephen Ferris, an experienced and well known Sydney-based DJ, asked him about Hetfield.
“We were doing the Big Day Out with him and he likes the same kind of things that I like, James” Grossman, a twice ARIA Hall Of Fame inductee, said.
“Occasionally you meet people … in the music industry, we all kind of mix and meet.
“And sometimes you meet somebody you get on (with) incredibly well and sometimes you don’t.”
Co-host Kris Gale asked Grossman about the 2011 Metallica-Lou Reed project Lulu.
“I’ve heard about that,” said Grossman. “James told me about that experience. It was … interesting.”
