EXPERIENCED all-round musician Tommy Henriksen admits he didn’t want guest musicians on the debut album by Mutt Lange-produced Crossbone Skully – but was told by Motley Crue’s Nikki Sixx that they were a necessary evil these days.

The reclusive Lange is back with the release this week of Evil World Machine, which features Sixx playing bass on single “High On You”. Def Leppard’s Phil Collen also appears on the LP.

“Mutt finished sequencing the whole record and then I get a phone call, ‘ah, we need to have features on the record”,” Switzerland-based Henriksen tells Sirius XM.

“I’m old school …. what’s ‘features’ … ‘getting guests on your record’. I don’t want anyone on my record! This record sounds great!”

Henriksen told the Trunk Nation show he decided to call Sixx, who is a friend, for advice.

“I said ‘listen dude, what’s with this features shit? I’m not into it’.

“And Nikki said ‘listen, the features are like having a ballad back in the eighties; you needed a ballad, today you need a feature’. He said ‘so you need to find someone who’s got a big algorithm and a big presence on Spotify’.

“So I go like this to him, I go: ‘alright so how about you?’ He went: ‘what do you mean?’. I go: ‘how about you play bass; nobody thinks you can fuckin’ play bass and I;ve watched you play bass for two years.

“I think this is a good moment. Run it up the flagpole, man!”
