GUERNICA Mancini, the former singer of Swedish rockers Thundermother, has spoken of her anger and frustration at being body-shamed by fans.

Mancini, controversially sacked by the band at the start of the year, was so frustrated by the phenomenon that Thundermother wrote a song – “All Looks, No Hooks” – about it.

“We get judged way more on our looks than we think is necessary because we’re not here to be models,” Mancini told Hot Metal.

“We’re musicians and I think we do that really well.

“That’s all you should talk about. Either you like us as a musician or not but discussing how fat we are or this or that – it’s so fucking annoying.

“And we get frustrated with that.”

Then comments come shortly after Hole’s Courtney Love criticised  the Rock N Roll Hall Of Fame for its lack of recognition of female artists.

In 2000, Aussie all-girl band Skulker had a Pacific island booking cancelled when the promoter saw a picture of them, resulting in their next EP being called Too Fat For Tahiti.

Mancini admitted she probably paid too much attention to social media commentary.

“To be completely honest I am definitely one of those people,” she said.

“I’m a very curious person. I want to find every answer.

“It’s not the best side of my and I’m working really hard to cool down and not look at stuff because it’s not really helpful most of the time.

“Even though we do get a lot of nice comments, I’m still struggling dealing with the few bad ones, you know?

“It’s a hard time learning how to deal with that. It’s going to take a while for me not to look at comments and stuff but I’m doing my best not to.”

Mancini and fellow former Thundermother members Emlee Johansson and Mona Lindgren have formed a new band, The Gems.
