PROMOTERS Silverback Touring have announced there will be no Glam Fest next year – with strong indications the franchise is dead.
The touring event, celebrating hair metal and its various offshoots, kicked off in 2023 and was held again last year with artists such as Faster Pussycat, Wednesday 13 and Eclipse featuring over the two years.
“We are sad to announce that Glam Fest Australia will not be returning in 2025,” Silverback said in a social media post.
“A number of factors have contributed to our decision with the most prominent factor being that the continued production of the festival is simply not financially feasible, particularly in the current economic climate. We have tried to make it work for 2025 but it is sadly not meant to be.
“We are fans of this genre first and foremost and whilst we have been super proud to bring you acts of the genre (and its related genres), it all needs to add up and make sense.
“We are proud to have presented the acts that have featured on Glam Fest in 2023 and 2024, some of whom finally made it to our shores long into their esteemed careers. We are grateful to all of those acts.”
The next part of the statement did not encourage anyone to assume the festival would return in 2026.
“We are especially grateful to you guys, those of you who bought tickets to the shows, supported the concept, spread the word and shared in our excitement of presenting such a show. So thank you, one and all. We appreciate you guys!
“It is not all bad news, we assure you that we will continue servicing the hard rock and glam genres with some new announcements soon. Be on the look out for those.”
