Gig review: Supersuckers + Nashville Pussy + Hot Machine at Croxton Bandroom, Melbourne

YEEHAW!!! A big night of dirty hillbilly rock n roll at one of my fave venues. The Croxton has become my home away from home. Heading into the Carny fest we sadly missed Hot Machine, as my mate was doing some home DIY and it cost us valuable gig time. Sorry ladies. Blame Dean.

By all accounts Hot Machine were on fire and are only going from strength to strength.. Another mate gladly purchased the Leather And Steel EP.

Enter Nashville Pussy. Long time listener first time caller here. Imagine KISS and AC/DC had a love child in Tennessee. A child who grew up on a steady diet of L7 and Motorhead. That is Nashville Pussy. Dirty, dirty rock n roll with an energetic live show, led by guitarist Ruyter Suys, who is a way better looking than Dee Snyder and plays like Angus Young. Between Blaine (vocals/guitar ) doing a shoey out of his hat and rockin’ tunes like “Go Motherfucker Go”, they definitely smoked it til it fell off the bone.

Feeling like I was about to engage in some tent boxing, monster truck rallies, duck shoot and gumbo ( thats a good thing by the way) … The Supersuckers entered the ring. Eddie Spaghetti is a super cool operator and I respect the shit outta that guy.

A rockin’ set ensued including an awesome cover of the You am I track “Heavy Heart” .. Metal Marty is fantastic player and a boogie woogie punk master.

Just seeing the legend that is the Supersuckers is in itself a win.

Bringing the house down with “Born With A Tail”, I exited the carnival happy, merch purchased and covered in Jack Daniels from Ruyter Suys’ mouth after she sprayed us with God’s Nectar from her own gob.

It’s something I won’t forget anytime soon.
