FOREIGNER and Ozzy Osbourne are the hard rock and metal acts to win induction into the Rock’n’Roll Hall Of Fame.
Former Foreigner singer Lou Gramm, who has said he will reunite with the band at the ceremony, has openly accused the Rock Hall of having a bias against the multi-platinum rockers and reckoned the departure of Rolling Stone founder Jann Wenner from the organisation cleared the way for them to be honoured.
Osbourne was previously inducted with Black Sabbath in 2006.
“I think it means more to me now than perhaps 20 years ago,” Foreigner’s Mick Jones told Billboard.
“I’ve had a great career, and this is like the whipped cream and cherry on top. It’s something I will savour over the years. It’s a great honour to be included amongst all these great artists that have been inducted over the years.”
Osbourne told the same publication: “It feels big. I’m more than honoured.”
The induction will take place on October 19 at the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse in Cleveland, Ohio. The other inductees include Peter Frampton, Cher, A Tribe Called Quest, Jimmy Buffett, and Mary J Blige.
Jimmy Buffett, MC5, Dionne Warwick and Norman Whitfield receive the ‘Musical Excellence Award’ – a way for the HOF board to include artists who don’t receive enough votes.
