‘DIAMOND’ David Lee Roth has called Sammy Hagar’s bluff over an invitation for the original Van Halen singer to take part in a tribute tour next year.
Hagar, who has a famously fractious relationship with his predecessor, told radio host Howard Stern that when it comes to his Eddie Van Halen-dedicated tour next year, “if we’ve got other guitar players, we’ll get them involved, other singers, get them involved.
“If Alex Van Halen wants to jump up, if David Lee Roth wants to come out and join us, come on, motherfucker. You are welcome. This is about Van Halen.”
Hagar is joined by fellow VH alumni Michael Anthony on bass, guitar virtuoso Joe Satriani and celebrated drummer Jason Bonham.
Somewhat unexpectedly, Roth responded on Van Halen News Desk: “I’m ready to go. Let’s do this.”
This is definitely NOT what Hagar expected. It was put to him by fans on Instagram and he made it clear he wouldn’t be bunking down on the road next year with his verbal sparring partner.
“He can come out and sing a song on a show or two, if he can remember the words,” Hagar wrote. “He’s not invited on the tour NOOO F;()$(.g way. It was to sing a song with us somewhere like a lot of singers guitarist ect are going to do on this tour. I know better than to have him on tour again. Been there done that.”
