RICK Allen, Def Leppard’s iconic one-armed drummer, has been attacked and injured by a teenage assailant in Florida.
Allen, 59, was reportedly enjoying a cigarette outside the Four Seasons Hotel and Residences in Fort Lauderdale at the time of the incident. He was in town with the Leps who are performing with Motley Crue on The Stadium Tour.
According the the arrest warrant, 19-year-old Max Hartley ran full-speed at Allen, knocking him over and causing him to bang his head on the ground.
A woman who came to his aid was also attacked, Hartley dragging her by the hair.
The alleged offender escaped to a neighbouring hotel where he was apprehended by police after damaging property.
At the time of writing, Allen’s condition was not known.
Only hours before this incident, Leppard had announced the release of an album recorded with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra called Drastic Symphony.
It is to be released on May 19.
