DAVE Grohl has hardly been seen in public since revealing in September he had fathered a child outside his marriage.
But when the 56-year-old does something, he does it big. And yesterday he returned to the spotlight during Fire Aid, a benefit concert for victims of the Los Angeles fires.
With him was the other surviving members of Nirvana – Krist Novoselic and Pat Smear – and his own daughter Violet. That was the configuration that performed the Nirvana gem “All Apologies”, while Kim Gordon, Joan Jett and indie rocker St Vincent also stepped up to the plate for other songs.
At LA’s Kia Forum, St Vincent sang “Breed”, Sonic Youth’s Gordon “School” and Jett for “Territorial Pissings”.
Violet Grohl is just 18 and her involvement could be seen as a sign of family solidarity in the wake of last year’s scandal. The other singers previously performed with Nirvana during the grunge icons’ Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction in 2014.
