FORMER Mastodon guitarist Brent Hinds, who was dramatically ousted from the band only this year, has been killed in a motorcycle accident.

The Atlanta Police Department reported that Hinds died after his Harley Davidson was struck by a woman had failed to give way to him on Boulevard SE about 11.30pm Georgia time.

His former bandmates shared this testimonial on Instagram.

On March 7, Mastodon announced that Hinds, 51, had parted ways with the band after 25 years. At the time it was reported to have been a mutual agreement but in the months since, Hinds had revealed a level of bad blood between himself and the band with a series of personal attacks on them.

Along with all of Mastodon’s releases, Hinds also recorded an album with the supergroup Giraffe Tongue Orchestra in 2016.
