AXL Rose is the subject of a law suit alleging sexual assault in 1989.

In a New York filing on Wednesday, model and actress Sheila Kennedy sued the Guns N’Roses singer for battery, assault, gender-motivated violence and intentional infliction of emotional distress. The suit came just days before a legal window for such historical claims expired.

The 1983 Penthouse Pet of the year referred to the incident obliquely in her memoir, No One’s Pet. Rose has denied all the claims.

TMZ reported the allegation as being that Rose “tied her up and anally penetrated her with his penis during a party”. Former MTV host Rikki Rachtman is named as having been present at the party.

Alan Gutman, attorney for Rose, said in a statement: “Simply put, this incident never happened. Notably, these fictional claims were filed the day before the New York State filing deadline expires.

“Though he doesn’t deny the possibility of a fan photo taken in passing, Mr Rose has no recollection of ever meeting or speaking to the Plaintiff, and has never heard about these fictional allegations prior to today. Mr Rose is confident this case will be resolved in his favour.”

No dates for proceedings have been set.
