David Lee Roth – “Damn Good”
While most punters would be a bit unsure of buying a BALLAD by Diamond Dave, this is pretty classy offering and at least as good as his Van Halen material. Steve Vai plays some great notes in this tear jerker which should garner airplay.
Def Leppard – “Live Bites” 12 inch
OK, we’ve already reviewed the single. But this has some good extras, like the orgasmic mix of “Excitable”, an archetypal guitar dance track if ever there was one. We were quite surprised this was never released as a single, it would’ve actually proved a big hit in the clubs.
Bon Jovi – “Bad Medicine”
You either like it or hate it but you gotta admit it’s a good time song. Bon Jovi are rich enough and popular enough these days to give up singing about broken hearts and unrequited love. This song is a sleazy strutter with the best rhythm of any track they’ve done, a tumbling riff and soaring chorus line. Another “You Give Love a Bad Name”. If you like it, watch it take off, if you hate it, bad luck.
