WHILE their line-up has never been stable, Temtris have been a staple on the east coast metal scene for over 20 years, developing a hard-driving classic metal style that touches base with thrash, fronted by the huge power of Genevieve Rodda’s voice.

Khaos Divine is the seventh album from the Nowra-based unit and once again shows the band at full force almost from the outset. Galloping riffs and pounding rhythms take command from the moment the title track kicks into gear, setting the course for the next 45 minutes of high energy heavy metal.

Having established their style long ago, each album has seen them building and improving with each new release, so while Temtris hardly breaks new ground on Khaos Divine, each track bristles with ferocious and aggressive riffs from steely guitars, hooky grooves and thunderous drumming. Slower expansive numbers like “The Path” show their range, while the pure venom of “Evolution of Hate” takes them briefly into melodic death metal territory, an area they have merely touched on before.

As always, Rodda’s enormous vocal capacity that makes Temtris stand out from other bands in their style, a gigantic resonating and captivating voice that never wavers – she is by far one of the best singers in her genre and with the last three albums they’ve done all standing up with a consistency of solid material throughout, Temtris are easily one of the best pure metal bands in the country.
