AEROSMITH – like Black Sabbath – will embark on a farewell tour without their classic drummer.
Following our report yesterday, the Boston icons confirmed the start of a farewell tour with the dates highlighted by a New Years Eve show in their home town.
But like Sabbath, who did not include Bill Ward in their global lap of honour, Aerosmith will be bidding us goodbye without Joey Kramer.
The band has been involved in a series of legal disputes with the 72-year-old skinsman who has been with them since they began in the early 1970s.
But the band insisted in a statement that it was Kramer’s choice not to take part.
“While Joey Kramer remains a beloved founding member of Aerosmith, he has regrettably made the decision to sit out the currently scheduled touring dates to focus his full attention on his family and health,” a statement said.
“Joey’s unmistakable and legendary presence behind the drum kit will be sorely missed.”
Aerosmith insists the tour – which starts on September 2 in Philadelphia and currently stretches to January 26 in Montreal – IS a farewell.
There is no news on dates outside North America at this stage.
