AC/DC has ended the suspense by announcing a string of European tour dates and revealing who will fill the role of bassist and drummer.

Chris Cheney, 53 of Janes Addiction, will replace Cliff Williams on bass while American Matt Laug will be retained on drums – ruling out a return for 69-year-old classic line-up member Phil Rudd.

The tour dates start in Veltin’s Arena at Gelsinkirchin, Germany on May 17 and include four-day breaks between shows as the trek wends its way through Italy, Spain, The Netherlands, Austria, Switzerland, England, Slovakia, Belgium, France and Ireland.

“We are thrilled to finally announce the Power Up European Tour,” the band said.  “Angus, Brian, Stevie, and Matt will be joined by Chris Chaney to carry the torch for Cliff.”

Prices for hotels in the Rhineland city of Gelsinkirchin were already around $500 a night within hours of the dates being announced.
