SOMETHING has really pissed off Jesse Leach. FromĀ  lockdowns, to man’s inhumanity to man in the modern age and everything in between, this is the basis for one of the strongest albums KsE have released in years.

From opener ā€˜Abandon Usā€™ Leach is on fire, both vocally and lyrically. Sure, it feels like standard loud/quiet dynamic, only this time the heavy is the heaviest they have been and the melodic is the most soaring the band have been without Howard Jones.

The band double down on ā€˜Discordant Nationā€™, with blast beats and a hardcore gallop that they have only skirted before. The weight of the album is summed up quickly as KsE continue to drive the metal and ā€˜core all at once with tracks like ā€˜Forever Alignedā€™ and ā€˜Collusionā€™ where all their signature elements are there for all to see.

Then there is the slower more melodic ā€˜I Believeā€™ that sees their love of early British metal get three minutes to shine amongst the heavy. Buried toward the back of the album,Ā  though, is possibly the heaviest thing the band have attempted . ā€˜The Fall Of Usā€™ skirts very close to death metal, showing that despite the tough journey Leach has had with vocal issues over the last six years, the surgeries and recovery have been worth it as his vocals are the strongest they have ever sounded.

Its not just all vocals of course. On this album Adam D and the rest of the band have put forward some of their hardest music, matching the temperament of their vocalist and the lyrical content he brought to the table.Ā If you have never been a fan, This Consequence may be as close as you will get to finding some joy in their brand of metalcore. For the rest of us, I am sure we will find exactly what we’ve been looking for.
